Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Salt Lake County Residents Directory. By using the reference, you accept these terms. If they do not suit your use, leave the site and contact the record custodian directly.

1. The Reference Service

Salt Lake County Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections connected with Salt Lake County, Utah. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with an office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Permitted and Prohibited Use

Use the pages only for lawful research. You may not use the reference or anything reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the pages at scale
  • Interfere with site operation or security

3. No Consumer Reports

This reference is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. §1681 et seq. Neither these pages nor a result returned by a linked tool is a consumer report. Nothing may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. External Portals

Linked government portals, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored search tools have their own terms, privacy notices, fees, and access rules. Salt Lake County Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, pricing, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available.” No warranty is made that a page, link, record description, coverage note, or search result is accurate, complete, current, or continuously available.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource, including action taken from a public record.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless the operators from a claim, demand, loss, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from misuse of the reference or violation of these terms.

8. Original Materials

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Brief quotations with attribution and ordinary linking are welcome. Full-page republication and systematic copying are not permitted.

9. Changes

New terms may be posted when the service, law, or linked records landscape changes. Continued use after posting means the revised terms apply.

10. Access Restrictions

Access may be blocked or limited when a user violates these terms, abuses a search service, threatens another person, or harms site security. Restriction may occur without advance notice.

11. Utah Governing Law

Utah law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record references are subject to Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, including §63G-2-204 for requests to a record custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Requests for records belong with the Salt Lake County or Utah custodian that holds them.
